HIS PROPHETHOOD
Prophet Muḥammad (may the peace & blessings of Allāh be upon him) was a truthful and honest man. By reflecting on his life and teachings, one can attest to this reality, and thus disprove any false notions of him being untruthful about his Prophethood. Consider the following points: He foretold that Ash-Shām (Greater Syria), Persia (Iran) & Yemen will become Muslim lands [collected by Aḥmad & An-Nasa’i]. He prophesied the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul) which was the heart of the Roman empire, “Constantinople will certainly be liberated…” [collected by Aḥmad]. After 800 years, the Ottoman sultan, Muḥammad Al-Fātiḥ, accomplished its conquest. He foretold the beautification of mosques, “The Hour will not commence before people boast of their mosques” [Aḥmad & Abū Dāwūd]. Ibn ‘Abbās (the narrator) added, “You will decorate your mosques just as the Jews and Christians did with their temples”. He prophesied the material prosperity amongst the Arabs today, “And if you see the barefooted, naked, shepherds of camels competing in the construction of high-rise buildings, then this is from the signs (of the Hour)” [Saḥiḥ-ul-Bukhārī]. We have seen wealthy Arab nations, namely the UAE and Saudi Arabia compete in constructing skyscrapers. In less than a century, both of these nations went from being destitute shepherds to amassing great wealth, such that they are competing in constructing tall buildings. He was not a “liar” because his life and teachings do not reflect the psychological profile of a “liar”. Liars usually start off with small lies which steadily grow in magnitude. Is it logical that Prophet Muḥammad, who was deemed by the Arab pagans as a truthful and honest man, would one day (randomly) invent the biggest lie and claim prophethood? COMMENTS FROM NON-MUSLIMS The historian Dr William Draper said, “Four years after the death of Justinian, A.D. 569, Muḥammad was born in Mecca, in Arabia, the man who, of all men, has exercised the greatest influence upon the human race .to be the religious head of many empires, to guide the daily life of one-third of the human race, may perhaps justify the title of a Messenger of God” (History of the Intellectual Development of Europe, pp. 329-330). Michael Hart mentioned, “My choice of Muḥammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and (non-religious) level” (The 100, pp. 3). “The Hour will not begin until the land of the Arabs once again becomes meadows and rivers” [Sahih Muslim]. Until the late 20th century, scientists did not know that the Arabian Peninsula once had meadows and rivers in ancient times. And more recently, NASA has confirmed fields of green springing up in the Middle East
